Rebus is excited to announce that we will be crossing the pond for the second time to host a pop-up in San Francisco, where we will be teaming up with ethical jewellery retailer, Fiat Lux.
The partnership has been several years in the making, as Fiat Lux founders Marie McCarthy and Alexei Angelides had been following Rebus founder Emmet Smith’s work with Rebus and arranged to visit our London workshop to order their own personal signet rings. The couple immediately extended the invitation for Rebus to set up shop in their Bay Area boutique in San Francisco. Their Gothic-meets-modern boutique houses a working studio space where jewelers merge traditional craftsmanship with modern design, making them a truly apt partner for Rebus;
“It was immediately obvious that it’s the kind of craftsmanship with fine attention to detail and precision that’s exactly what we strive for in our shop,” says Angelides. “We were elated to find a like-minded individual doing real things in metal with real hands. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Emmet back to San Francisco this March.”
Our entrée to the Bay Area serves as a sort of homecoming for Emmet, who lived as a world-traveling nomad and had settled briefly in San Francisco in the early 90s;
“San Francisco was the place I settled in the longest during my traveling years. My fondest memories and longest lasting friendships have been formed here, so it feels quite poignant to return.”
The private consultations with clients will be by appointment only and a collection of Rebus’ signet rings, cufflinks, pendants and more will be on display in the Fiat Lux showroom. During the consultation, clients will be able to try on and choose from a variety of pieces available in precious metals and the Rebus team will be on hand to offer advice and demonstrate some of Rebus’ design and engraving skills. If pieces are commissioned, the final design will then be produced by the team of hand-engravers, who are based in Rebus' flagship workshop in London’s famed jewellery quarter, Hatton Garden. Once completed, these special jewellery pieces will be flown across the water to their new owners.
Rebus founder Emmet Smith and his associate Rachel Westerman will be taking one-to-one appointments from 11am to 7pm on March 22nd and 23rd.
The appointments will take place at the Fiat lux showroom located at 3169, 16th Street, San Francisco 94103.
