A Rebus Landscape Oval ring in 9ct rose gold is both a stylish piece of contemporary jewellery and an heirloom steeped in heritage. Our award winning hand engravers get the very best out of the colour and quality of the metal and the intricacies of your design. As with all the Rebus rings, they are heavy weight and will easily take a seal engraving of your family crest.
Of the three carats of gold we offer, 9ct (375 parts of gold per thousand) has the lowest gold content. As a result it is the toughest of the three - the higher the gold content, the softer the metal becomes. We would recommend 9ct gold if you are very active and your hands take a lot of wear and tear. Rose gold is also known as red gold and pink gold. This shade became popular in Russia at the beginning of the nineteenth century and is often referred to as Russian gold. Made by adding copper to yellow gold, we usually use a subtle pink, blush-like tint for our rose gold signet rings. The higher the copper content, the stronger the red in the colour and the shade can vary slightly from carat to carat.
The larger of the two designs measures 12mm x 15mm across the face. The smaller landscape oval signet measures 10mm x 12mm and is ideal for smaller hands.
Deep seal engraving
Traditional deep seal engraving is the most popular method of engraving signet rings. We create your design by carving deeply into the metal, hand engraving the design in reverse.
Once the seal engraving is completed, we use the engraved signet ring to produce a 3d wax impression - the seal. Your ring will arrive presented in a beautiful gift box, with an encapsulated impression of your design and a wax taper to make your own seals. If you would prefer for us to engrave your design as it is seen on paper, i.e. not in reverse, please let us know by using the comment box found in your shopping bag. read less
Surface cut engraving
As with seal engraving, surface engraving is produced by hand, using handheld gravers. In fact, it's the same technique used by traditional bank note engravers.
Unlike seal engraving, we don't carve deep into the metal - instead, we create the design by cutting hundreds of lines of varying widths and depths until the design comes to life. This method is ideal for cufflinks and it also looks effective on signet rings, but does not have the same longevity as seal engraving. read less
